For Jonathan Roumie, playing the role of Jesus, a hero to billions around the world on a show whose episode views quickly approach 1 billion - has been life changing experience. This 4 part documentary series featured on Amazon Prime had all graphics and animated sequences produced by the team at C+S.
Storytelling across a diverse creative landscape
Our team leaned into multiple visual aesthetics and approaches to bring a varied, fresh take on specific pieces of an ancient, familiar story around the person of Jesus. Part archival, part 3D modeling, part more traditional ‘documentary’ styled graphics - all were utilized to draw the viewer into the deeper, more historic story the filmmakers were working to tell.
Clarity over cool
While we experimented with various styles, art direction, approaches - we continually came back to the fundamental question: “Is this clear?” “Does this make sense to someone unfamiliar with the story?” “Does this feel unique, yet connected to the rest of the project as a whole?” Through months of refinement and revisions, we are pleased in how we were able to serve the wider project with various animation features and graphics that helped to enhance the each episode in telling the story of Jonathan & Jesus.
