A journey to another world

Portal is the result of a deep collaboration with Lock & Mortice, a renowned designer and manufacturer of furniture based here in Vancouver, BC. Lock & Mortice has a long standing tradition of designing and creating a ‘best in show’ experience at one of Canada’s largest Interior Design Shows = IDS West. We were excited to jump into a collaboration joining them the design and execution of a concept that could serve as a portal to another dimension.

Rethinking the Trade show experience

We wanted to offer a different kind of experience amidst a crowded floor of exhibits, selling a vast array of countertops, lighting, art and more. The ability to draw the viewer into a deeper experience and story has the possibility of being not only a reprieve from the noisy overwhelm of a busy space, but also an opportunity to lead the imagination to another world.

Sustainable materials + Projection = a delightful combination

Lock and Mortice are no strangers to thoughtful, timeless design and we were humbled to step into their creative process and collaborate on how to integrate technology into a serene space, made completely of recyclable, sustainable materials. Successful being able to bring these worlds together and concept and create the visual content of the world on the other side of our portal continues to be a highlight project for all of us at C+S.

Colours + Shapes are a great creative partner. They are able to close the gap between the technical and creative with ease. We are grateful for our collaboration in bringing ‘Portal’ to life.
